Strawberry, banana & hemp smoothie

April 27, 2015 by Anne Fillion in dairy-free, egg-free, glutenfree, nut-free, raw, vegana, soy-free

HAPPY MONDAY!!

I'm very excited! Today's the first day of my special kids week where I'll be sharing one healthy, whole food and kid-friendly recipe each day! Follow me during the week, since I'm going to share my kids favourites recipes! You sure don't want to miss my best vegan mac & cheese recipe ;)

This smoothie is a classic strawberry and banana smoothie with a healthy twist. I love to sneak in superfoods everywhere I can!  This time I added hemp seeds.  Since my baby girl prefers soft and creamy breakfasts (like smoothies, porridge, "nanaicecream" or yogurt), especially when she's teething a lot or sick,  I like adding hemp seeds to her meals to boost the protein content.

This is probably my kids' favourite smoothie... and how could it not be ? Strawberries and bananas is a sure bet when it comes to kids!

And since warmer temperatures are coming, you can try to make this smoothie with frozen fruits.  The key to a great smoothie is to use great ingredients!  Try to use seasonal strawberries, but if you can't find fruits that are sweet enough (for example frozen strawberries), the bananas will give that extra sweetness that you need in a delicious smoothie! You can also freeze this smoothie into strawberry "creamsicles"! I promise they'll love it :)

Smoothies are just my favourite way to pack in more fruits and veggies in my kids' day, either in the morning, as a snack or as a light dessert!

Strawberry, banana & hemp smoothie

Serves : 2 large or 4 small smoothies

Ingredients :

  • 2 cup organic strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds

  • 1 cup almond milk (or other milk)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • Honey or maple syrup if needed (optional)

  1. Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy.
